Course Guide

通識英文是大一共同必修，也是把中學時期英文轉化為大學學習能力的第一哩路。課程依學生入學時的英文能力分級授課，幫助你從理解內容走向口說與寫作產出，並為全英授課（EMI）、國際交流及未來職涯奠定基石。

General Education English is a required first-year course and the first step in turning the English you learned in high school into skills for university study. Classes are offered at different proficiency levels to help you progress from understanding content to communicating through speaking and writing, while building a foundation for English-medium instruction (EMI), international experiences, and your future career.

Engage with international business, workplace, and professional scenarios to develop field-specific vocabulary, appropriate language, and communication strategies for professional interaction.

共同收穫｜升級說寫能力

Shared Outcome | Advance Speaking and Writing

兩類課程皆重視理解後的口說與寫作產出，並融入英檢準備策略、測驗技巧與自主學習方法。

Both course categories focus on turning comprehension into active output (speaking and writing) while incorporating practical test-taking strategies and self-directed learning methods.

完成通識英文 4 學分後，若希望繼續深耕，可申請「應用英外語學程」，依目標進入 學術英文EAP／專業英文ESP 課群，或銜接專業領域的全英課程。

After completing four credits of General Education English, you can advance their proficiency by applying to the Applied Language Studies Certificate Program. Choose between EAP (Academic English) and ESP (Professional English) tracks, or transition smoothly into EMI courses in your field.

  • 大一共同必修，原則上連續兩學期、每學期修習 1 門。

General Education English is required first-year students. In principle, students take one course per semester for two consecutive semesters.

  • 需修習「實用類」與「應用類」各 1 門，共計 4 學分。

Students must complete one Practical English course and one Applied English course, for a total of four credits.

  • 大一新生於入學年度享有選課保障；若自行放棄修課或未通過而需重修，須待當屆大一選課需求滿足後再依名額遞補。

First-year students are guaranteed enrollment during their entry year. Students who withdraw or need to retake the course may enroll only after the incoming freshman cohort has registered, subject to seat availability.

  • 實際修課方式以各系入學年度修業規定及當學期選課公告為準。

Specific requirements are subject to the curriculum regulations for your department and the course registration announcements for the relevant semester.
