Applied Languages Studies – Japanese Courses
Course Objective
This Japanese course adopts a placement test system to encourage students to progress through the levels in a step-by-step manner. It aims to systematically and comprehensively enhance their integrated Japanese skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing). Moreover, it incorporates cultural and pragmatic insights, along with the use of generative AI in class activities, to support natural and fluent language use.
Through the Japanese courses, students will develop:
- Multidimensional thinking skills
- Intercultural understanding
- Cross-cultural communication skills
Course Features
- Open to All Students: Available to undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.
- Structured Level-Based Curriculum:
- Introductory (No prior knowledge ~ JLPT N5)
- Basic (JLPT N5 ~ N4)
- Elementary (JLPT N4 ~ N3)
(Note: Beginning with 114-1, the course "Introductory Japanese Pronunciation and Vocabulary" will no longer count toward the Applied Languages Studies. It will be classified as a general elective and can be taken without applying to the program.)
- Cross-Cultural Language Focus: Courses highlight differences in Japanese and Taiwanese language use, which helps students communicate more naturally and appropriately in real-life contexts.
