Workshop of Traditional Fragrant Sachets in Chinese Culture: Come, learn, do and earn
The Duanwu Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival, is one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture. People not only participate in the dragon boat racing, eat zongzi (rice dumpling) and stand an egg (the practice of egg-balancing) on that day, but also make fragrant sachets as auspicious talismans to deworm and ward off the evils.
The Workshop held by CLS is to help international students:
1. To get familiar with the culture of the Dragon Boat Festival
2. To learn some of Chinese cultural knowledge/cultural patterns through the Dragon Boat Festival
3. To make a fragrant sachet of one’s own
Welcome to join us and take home your unique fragrant sachet made by yourself. You can hang it in your room to add a pleasant scent!
Time: 18:00-20:30, June 05 (Wednesday)
Location: Lecture Hall, Center of Language Studies, at Library & Information Building
1 to 2 bonus points for Chinese courses will be awarded to those who participate in the entire process of the workshop, without early excuse.
